ON THE VERGE OF A FEVER
[Le goût des jeunes filles]

Taking place in 1971, in the chaotic days after the death of dictator "Papa Doc" Duvalier, this is the coming-of-age story of 15-year-old Fanfan, who, despite the political chaos and armed clashes around him, is mainly concerned with losing his virginity. When Fanfan is falsely implicated in an incident involving the Tonton Macoutes (the infamous paramilitary enforcers of the Duvalier regimes), he finds refuge in the brothel across the street. Based on the novel Le goût des jeunes filles by Haitian author Dany Laferrière.

EAT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY
[Mange, ceci est mon corps]

"Quay's feature debut is a visually stunning and occasionally disturbing meditation about the ghosts of French colonialism in contemporary Haiti. Full of dreamlike contrasts between documentary-style footage and perfectly poised and studied moments, the film finds its own rhythms and ways of suggesting ideas and emotions. Quay is definitely an artist to watch."--NOW Toronto. Grand Jury Prize, 2008 Miami Film Festival, Official Selection, 2007 Toronto and 2008 Rotterdam and Sundance Film Festivals.

Best Film, 2007 Cartagena Film Festival; Official Selection, 2006 Locarno, Mar del Plata and 2007 Miami Film Festivals.

MADE IN JAMAICA

This film is a powerful portrait of the leaders of the Jamaican music movement and how reggae in particular became a worldwide phenomenon. It is the story of how the three million residents of a small island nation in the Caribbean took their human experience and turned it into songs full of emotions that resonate around the world. "If you want to understand what is popular music, its power and its role in a postcolonial society like Jamaica; how the songs are able to do better than any study in sociology, translate the sufferings, the hopes, the dead-ends, the revolts, and the energy of all the people, then it is absolutely necessary to watch MADE IN JAMAICA." -- Le Nouvelle Observateur
