Complimentary Tickets to the NSO at the Kennedy Center!

Please see email below per kc-scotty yahoo groups. I absolutely luv KC-scotty yahoo groups!

Everynow and then the group will offer complimentary or reduced tickets to the Kennedy Center on a first come first serve basis.

Now there are some rules! If you request tickets then you must go. It is understandable that sometimes we may encounter emergencies but the group frowns upon excessive no shows. Thats understandable considering the fact that the tickets could have gone to someone else.

Tickets are pre-seated and of course they are not front row and center stage seats. Because these tickets are free yes you will more than likely end up in the nose bleed section. But the experience is awesome!

The group also frowns upon individuals requesting seat changes. Meaning once you pick your tickets up from the will call, do not ask the clerk behind the counter if she can switch your seats or if you can switch your tickets out for another date.

So please all enjoy your free night out at the Kennedy Center, becuase I have to say that it is well worth.

Also, please make sure that request to sign up to kc-sc yahoo group at:  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kc-scotty   to recieve your free tix!

Hey you can't beat free Kennedy Center tickets!

Cheers! B.Rai~

A very limited number of complimentary tickets have just become available for the NSO for Thursday, October 15th at 7 p.m. If interested, please let me know your full name and count no later than 11 a.m. Wed, October 14th by replying to this email. Should the tickets run out before then I'll send an email update. Please remember I have no control over location of seats, any requests for more than two tickets may require splitting your party up, and please reply by email only. Also, requests for complimentary tickets for future events cannot be accepted, I merely post what's been offered to me. And finally, once 11 a.m. on the 14th comes and goes, please do not email me asking if you can still get tickets, this only puts me in an awkward position.
***These tickets MUST be used. Please be sure that before you make a request for complimentary seats to this performance that you will be able to attend. Failure to comply to this rule may result in disqualification from future offers.***
Tickets will be held in the names provided at our Will Call window for pick up after 6 p.m. and an email confirmation will be sent to the requestor. Please allow ample time to pick up your tickets from Will Call.

Plus Size Models In Or Out

So guys this was something that I just had to write about!

In one of my earlier post I informed you  guys of the Fashion for Hope Fashion Show taking place this Sunday October 18, 2009 at the Westin Grand.

Now I have to say that Inner Expressions is doing a wonderful job at putting on this event. They have been nothing but professional and absolutely a blast  to work with. However I cannot say the same for the designers and one in particular!

I am a plus size model meaning that I am a size 11/12, but we all know in the fashion industry that this can sometimes be frowned upon.

Because of my plus size I believe that I was only limited to two yes two scenes out of a total of nine. But I was fine with that becuase I do understand that I am not rail thin nor am I a size 6 or 8 (which would be pushing it in the Fashion Industry).

During the dress rehersal all of the models were asked to report to their designers for their fitting. Well as I approached my designer and informed her that I was one of her models she kind of ignored me, until I informed her again that I was one of her models. Then she replied, oh they pick your models for you, I have never been in any shows were they pick the models for the dsigners (not saying this directly at me but speaking in general).

Now I could have taken this as an insult but I let it pass!

As she sized up the other girls and had them try on their outfits. I was kind of the odd girl out waiting patiently for something to be thrown at me. Not! I was informed that she simply did not bring anything in my size.

Ok, guys so that was all fine and dandy, so I agreed to meet with the designer at her store to be fitted for something. We exchanged information and I left the dress rehersal. Well later on that day I get a call from the designer stating that there was no need for me to come to the store because she had exceeded the amount of clothes for her scene and that she was really sorry! No worries, I replied!

Now you call this one! Was I thrown out of her scene simply because I was a plus size model. I think so but maybe I am reading to much into this one.

Pluse size models from what I see are in and mostly all of the major fashion agencies have now created a plus size division. Now guys I could let this stop me but I am not. That was simply her lost, because to me I think that it would have shown a little bit of diversity in her line if she could have shown that she was able to design clothes for normal size people!

National Museum of the American Indian!

What a pleasure it is to work in downtown Washington DC. Today on my lunch break I had the pleasure of walking over to the American Indian Museum located at 4th Independence Ave S.W. to take in some art. Becuase it was my lunch break:)! I only had a certain amount of time. But I can tell you this the museum was amazing both inside and out! Also I was able to get a couple camera shots with my Phone! Gosh this G1 is good!
Here are pics from the outside of the museum.............................

Once inside of the museum it is a must to look up and make sure that you have a camera handy so that you may take pictures. The architecture is amazing............

The museum is kind of confusing once in. I say this becuase not like other museums were art just hits you in the face as you enter. You actually have to go up to the third floor before you hit your first exhibit. Here are a couple pic's from the exhibits.
 FAB Boots!

Thanks for reading guys and again I really hope that you are enjoying my posts!

A little Shoe Action!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww the joys of summer! Sandels! Sandels! Sandels! Gotta Luv them!
Enjoy! Cheers B.Rai~

Lovely weekend!

It is always nice to spend time with your family. My mother flew in from St. louis, Mo this weekend. As a bonus to all of that Saturday night my older sister, her husband and our mother treated the youngest ( that would be me) to a good home cooked meal. Seafood! Oh yeah! Thx guys!
Sunday we were  going to try an make it to Mrs. K's Toll House for brunch but unfortanely we were unable to. I have never been to Ms. K's but I hear that the food is amazing! So if you are ever in the Silver Spring area please go down and check out Mrs. K's. http://www.mrsks.com/. After missing brunch, we decided to head over to Eastern Market to check out some vendors. Eastern Market is an area were you are always able to find fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and a variety of meats. You also have the option of browsing around for handmade jewelry, beautiful scarves, old radio's from the 1920's era,  retro furniture and wall decor. Eastern Market has everything http://www.easternmarketdc.com/

After browsing Eastern Market we decided to drive down to the White House, hoping that maybe just maybe we would be able to get a glance and a pic of the Obama's! Unfortnately Not! But at least I was able to get a great pic of the White House! Hope that you enjoy it!

We ended our beautiful Sunday by heading over to Georgia Brown's http://www.gbrowns.com/. Because  I have heard so much about Georgia Brown's and I have always wanted to know what was the hype behind it. I mean yes it is southern cuisine. But growing up in St. Louis and my mother being originally from Mississippi I have had soul food ( no comparison). I have attached a pic at the bottom of my order of Southern Fried Chicken and although the pic's image may lead you to believe that the food was yummy by all means NO! I would have to say that if you are looking for some good Soul Food Cuisine then please check out the Art and Soul Restaurant located inside of the Liaison hotel  http://www.artandsouldc.com/. Chef Art Smith lives up to the meaning of soul food. Being from Lousiana he has perfected the art of cooking good ole fashion " Food for the Soul". Oh yes, and if you are thinking, no Chef Art's soul food does not compare to my mother's. In my book, no one can ever top my mothers good ole down south soul food.. I hope that you guys are enjoying my blog postings! Please leave me feed back and let me know what you think. Cheer! B.Rai~

Sushi at Sei

If you are into sushi then I would have to say hands down that Sei is the place to be. Oh gosh! I have truly been spoiled once you go Sei you cant really go anywhere else. At around 4ish today for some odd reason I began to crave sushi. But of course no one else wanted to go as much as I tried to convince all of my             co workers, they all had prior commitments, heck it was Friday night! So that was understandable. As I left the office I kept thinking of other places that I could maybe grab some takeout from before heading home.

But then it dawned on me as I exited the train to switch lines that I really wanted sushi damn it! loL! I really did not want to eat alone but once inside the vibes were so chill ,relaxed and filled with 20 and 30 somethings all taking in the happy hour vibes. I began to feel at ease! The sushi was fresh and tasty the staff is always welcoming and friendly. The Ombiance is to die for, very chic. Its a quaint & cozy date spot but you can also go there and have a girls night out. Please see pics below Sei is located just two blocks from the Verizon Center at Gallery Place Metro Station. http://www.seirestaurant.com/

I was only able to take a pic of Sei from the outside as it did not dawn on me until once I was out of the restaurant that I did not take a pic of the inside. Also, please forgive me! I was so freaking excited to get my sushi that I actually forgot to take pictures of how delicious looking it was.

And on another note and this is so sporadic. As I was uploading the pics from Sei tonight I ran across a Barbecue Chicken Pizza pic that I had eaten early this week. Boy oh boy was it tasty if there is a near by Trader Joes then please it is a must have. Cheers! B.Ra~
